The waters of Hazelwood Pondage remain a minimum of 22 degrees allowing a variety of water activities to take place all year round. Popular activities include sailing, power boats and waterskiing, yachting, canoeing and swimming.
Because of its warm waters, Hazelwood Pondage is host to the Open Water Swimming Championships and the Latrobe City Sauna Sail. The Sauna Sail, a sailing regatta held annually in June attracts about 160 sail boats from across Victoria as well as interstate. The Traralgon Swimming Club also hosts several swimming events including the State Titles at Hazelwood Pondage.
Hazelwood Pondage is the home of the Latrobe Valley Yacht Club. With an annual program of events, almost every Sunday, November through to May and every second thereafter, you will see sail boats out on the lake. A perfect setting for a family picnic or BBQ.

BBQ, picnic tables, playground and toilets are located on the foreshore of Hazelwood Pondage.
There are no fees associated with boat access to Hazelwood Pondage.
