Events in Latrobe
Latrobe City is the host and home to many local, national and international events ranging from sports to festivals and fairs to expos with everything in between. Major events held annually include the Victorian and International Junior Tennis Championships and the Water Ski Championships.
The Moe Cup is Gippsland's most prestigious horse racing event where spectators can enjoy a day of high fashion and get that winning feeling. Held annually in October, the Moe Cup is part of a cluster of racing events called the Power of Racing held during the spring racing carnival season.
Other events include:
- Oktoberfest held annually in October by the German Club, this is a great day to sample German beer and food.
- The Boolarra Folk Festival is held annually in February and is a great day of music, art and craft stalls and local produce.
- Festival Latrobe, a cluster of events involving food, wine and culture held annually from February to March.
- The Victorian Darts Open held in June

Saturday 9 April – Gippsland Country Music Awards
The Gippsland Country Music Awards will be held from 10.00am to 9.00pm at Old Gippstown in Moe. MC for the day will be Denise Drysdale. Admission for visitors is $15 for adults, $10 concession and $5 children. Entry forms can be obtained from Old Gippstown. Gippsland Water Factory Community Open Day, Sunday 10 April 10am - 2.30pm
Tour the Gippsland Water Factory and visit the Vortex Centre. The Vortex Centre has interactive displays that focus on sustainable water management, and is open to people of all ages.
The Gippsland Water Factory treatment plant is open to people aged over 15, and you must wear closed in, flat soled shoes. Tours start every 30 minutes from 10am, with the last tour leaving at 2.30pm. Tour sizes are limited, so we invite you to call us on 1800 066 401 to reserve your spot.
Sunday 17 April – Rotary Club of Morwell’s 15th Annual Charity Golf Day
This community golf day will begin at 8.00am and finish at 5.00pm. There will be an18 hole men's and ladies stableford and callaway event. Hit off from 8.00 am till midday as well as a putting competition. BBQ and drinks available for purchase on the day. There is a $20.00 entry fee with approximately 60 sponsors for the event and prizes totalling more than $2,500. All proceeds will go to local community organisations. Saturday 23 - Friday 29 April - Latrobe City Youth National Archery Championships, Latrobe City Archery Park, Toners Lane Morwell
There will be around 150 junior archers plus familiy members, coaches and team managers will be coming to the Latrobe City Archery Park, Toners Lane, Morwell to compete to find the best individual and State Teams in Australia.
